Like the golden eagle, soaring high up in the sky,
it seems motionless in it's majestic beauty.
It's long graceful wings and slender sculptured fuselage glide,
imperceptibly, through the crystal clear blue skies.
Like it's companions, the large majestic birds
and puffy white drifting clouds,
the sailplane flies in silence.
Yet for the pilot, secure in the cocoon of his cockpit,
is in his own world of melodious murmurs and soft whistling.
Once the cable is released from the towplane,
the pilot enjoys his world of
wondrous solitude and serenity.
Soaring is a much sought after solitude,
in which all emotions are perfectly expressed,
like the essence of a vintage wine or a woman's perfume.
Many sensations of changing light, unique visions of
mountains, valleys, deserts, rivers and forests,
all of a sudden miraculously free of any human interference.
the pleasure of discovering and mastering unseen forces,
the energy of the sky, the power of the earth,
the true feeling of freedom
so mysterious to the uninitiated.
Secure in the knowledge that you could soar forever and be free.......
