Ever
had a Passenger feel airsick, seasick, carsick? By
Bret Willat
It
is embarrassing for everyone when someone gets airsick, seasick, carsick, or
other upset stomach. We have all felt, at least a little, of that uncomfortable
feeling. The bad times are when you feel so sick you are afraid you are
going to die, the really bad times are when you are afraid you are not
going to die!
Most
pilots when they start their flying get a little queasy. Many just quit flying
because they do not know or their instructor did not tell them, queasiness is
not unusual. Many pilots do get airsick when they start flight training, but
usually it goes away. But there are many people who give up too soon. It seems
that there are a number of factors why people become air sick, but most do,
thankfully, get over it eventually.
As
an operator of an FBO for over 20 years and a CFI for over 25 years I have tried
to let people know that it is not unusual and the queasy feeling will go away
with knowledge and practice. However, it is hard for some people to just get
past it and they do not want to take medications that make them drowsy (and I
don’t want that in a student either). I have found the most effective method
is to assure the passenger and to teach them what is going to happen and how
safe this is. Knowledge does help to alleviate some of the fears.
At
Sky Sailing we take thousands of passengers for rides in sailplanes. Our rides
are one or two passenger rides. We have seen just about every type of
airsickness there is. Some are so fast and without warning that the bag is not
used and there is a mess to clean. So we were very excited but cautious when
introduced to VitaMotion-S™. It is a spray
that works in a very short time and doesn’t seem to leave any drug side
effects. We have had people who tell us they are very susceptible to motion
sickness, try this spray and have had NO feelings of motion sickness at all. We
find it works best for the person who thinks they might become sick, to take the
VitaMotion-S before the flight. It also works
for many people who become sick during the flight but do not wait too long
before trying the spray. If they wait too long the spray will still help their
recovery time, if not stop the progress. Our pilots are very pleased with the
results, and the passengers enjoy their flights much more.
So
why a spray? Intra-oral VitaMotion-S™
sprays have a non-toxic spray pump which delivers the purest form of vitamins,
minerals, herbs and other nutritional supplements directly into the bloodstream.
When sprayed into the mouth, micro-sized beads or droplets are immediately
absorbed into the tissue through the capillaries, which lie close to the surface
of the lining in the mouth. This process allows the nutrients to be absorbed
within seconds without causing any extra stress to the organs. Most of the
Motion sickness pills need to be taken a long time before the flight and have a
drowsy side effect. The VitaMotion-S™
can be taken right before or during the flight and become effective within
minutes.
VitaMotion-S™ combines ingredients that have been used for years in fighting the symptoms of airsickness. Each dose of VitaMotion-S™ contains dimenhydrinate, an antihistamine that aids in the prevention of nausea and vomiting.
Ginger,
used for centuries and known for its ability to relieve motion sickness and
dizziness better than the standard drug treatment, is also included, as is
vitamin B6, a water-soluble nutrient that works with ginger to relieve gastric
problems. Vitamin B6 also boosts the immune system, and helps to prevent skin
diseases. These three age-tested forms of relief are combined to create a unique
1-2-3 punch for even the toughest cases of motion sickness.
What
about side effects?
We have not seen any so far, but no PIC (Pilot In Command) should ever take any
medication. Many people who think medications are ok for them do not realize the
effects may be very different at altitude. Some students may want help to over
come the airsickness symptoms in their early stages of training. They should
never be PIC, but by the time they are ready to be PIC, they should have
overcome the queasy feelings! Obviously, if you are under medical care, consult
your health professional. It is interesting to note that the dimenhydrinate in
the VitaMotion-S™ is 1mg compared to about
50mg in many of the over the counter motion sickness pills.
Is
the Intra-oral Spray better than a pill? The sprays do not contain fillers or binders, contrary to the make-up
of pills. Common fillers include talcum powder, yeast, starch and sugar. Binders
are mostly made of wax or shellac. Therefore when you take pills, you are
ingesting unwanted materials. Having a spray that does not have these fillers
and binders means you are getting the purest form of vitamins, minerals and
other nutritional supplements available. The sprays bypass the solubility and
absorption problems accompanied by traditional nutritional supplements.
Absorption
is up to 90 percent effective, allowing your body to utilize all the necessary
nutrients. Pills, which have a digestion rate of only 10 to 50 percent, use
binding agents to hold the ingredients together.
Through
the intra-oral spray, absorption of nutrients go directly into the bloodstream
and then into the cells within a matter of minutes. In fact, tests from
Massachusetts General Hospital have shown higher blood concentrations of insulin
taken by oral application. Even by injection, insulin takes 30 minutes longer to
reach the same blood levels. Not only is oral absorption more convenient, it
also allows those with irritable bowel syndrome, hiatal hernias and
diverticulitis to take nutrients that have irritated them in pill, tablet or
capsule form.
Oral
absorption works when micro-sized beads or droplets of a nutrient or drug are
absorbed through the mucosa (lining) of the mouth, and then go directly into the
bloodstream due to the dense vascularization of the oral cavity. When the
microfine mist containing the drug or nutrient is sprayed into the mouth,
absorption is efficient and almost instantaneous.
So
what is the answer to airsickness? I still believe that the most important thing you can do as a pilot is
to explain as much as is practical about the aircraft and flying to your
passenger, remain professional and above all, fly smoothly! I
recommend that you carry one of the VitaMotion-S™ tubes in your plane, your
car, and your boat. It has a 2-year shelf life un-opened and should be used with
in 6 months of opening. It really works! To get more information
about the VitaMotion-S™ visit our

VitaMotion-S™ works just as well on Seasickness, Carsickness or most upset
stomachs.
